CALL FOR PAPERS

The Serbian Library Association (SLA) invites submissions for its 23rd Annual International
Conference, Sustainable Models of Resource Management in Libraries. This event will address the
sustainability of libraries as institutions of knowledge, culture, and civic participation.
The conference will explore strategies for managing resources – budgets, staff, communities,
collections, programs, and administrative frameworks – in the context of global change, digital
transformation, and technological innovation.
Our goal is to highlight innovative management models and sustainable practices that strengthen
libraries as dynamic spaces of knowledge, learning, and collaboration, while encouraging
professionals to develop new approaches responsive to community needs and contemporary
challenges.
Themes and Subtopics
Submissions are invited on the following themes (but not limited to):
1. Digital Transformation as a Resource Strategy
Digital collections and services for budget rationalization and accessibility
Integration of digital tools into administrative frameworks
Digital infrastructure as a long-term investment
2. Artificial Intelligence in Resource Management
AI tools for optimizing workflows and budgets
Language models for personalized community services
Ethical governance of technology
3. Community as a Key Resource of Sustainability
Civic participation in program and collection development
Libraries as partners in local culture and education
Community as a factor of legitimacy and sustainability
4. Library Staff as Bearers of Sustainable Values
Harmonization of professional and social values
Competency development for resource management in times of change
Mental health and motivation as prerequisites for sustainability
5. Green Libraries and Ecological Sustainability
Energy and space management in libraries
Community education on climate change
Libraries as models of responsible public resource management
6. Open Science and Open Data as Community Resources
Libraries as mediators of scientific resources
Open access for budget rationalization and knowledge dissemination
FAIR principles as frameworks for sustainable scientific collections
Submission Guidelines
Full Papers: Up to 30,000 characters (including spaces), prepared according to the Instructions for
Authors.
Abstracts (posters, panels, workshops): Up to 300 words, in Serbian and English, including
authorship details, participants/target groups, and contact information.
Poster Submissions:
Accepted posters must be submitted in PDF format within 10 days of acceptance notification
(deadline: September 30, 2026). Poster preparation guidelines are available here.
Workshops and Panels:
Proposals involving speakers/presenters should be submitted only after obtaining their consent and
confirmation of participation.

Maximum of three authors per submission.
Conference languages: Serbian and English.
Registration and Fees
Participation fee: 8,000 RSD (70 EUR for international participants)
Authors of accepted papers: 6,000 RSD (50 EUR for international participants)

SLA members (with membership paid by September 1, 2026)
Students under 27 years of age
